For Men and Women
As part of the normal hair growth cycle, loosing hair is not an event worth worrying about. An average person loses 50-150 hairs daily. It will then eventually be replaced by new hair in a matter of months. It is a continuous cycle and if everything is normal, you not even notice that you are losing that much hair. The problem starts however when the normal number of hair an average person loses becomes double or even triple. This will then fall on the category of excessive hair loss that is caused by a number of factors.
Hair loss before is considered to be a lost cause. But because of man’s great search and wanting to maintain youthful looks, modern medications and treatments became available. Hair transplant is also possible with a little help from science and research. But for those who are more inclined to natural medications and treatments, there are also alternative ways to treat or prevent hair loss.
Treatments
Herbal preparations that contain Zinc, iron, magnesium and vitamin E along with green and healthy diet can help treat massive hair loss. These minerals can help reduce or even put a temporary stop in shedding excessive hair.
Shampoos, hair coloring and other hair products can also cause excessive hair loss. It is best to consult your dermatologist to see if there are harmful chemicals that are in the products that you are using. Changing to a milder or herbal shampoo may help.
Minoxidil is a generic name of a scalp lotion that claims to stop the massive shedding of hair. It slows down the process of hair loss and sometimes, in some cases promotes hair growth. You have to continuously use it for a prolonged period of time to be able to see and feel its effectiveness.
There are also tablet medications that can be taken by a person suffering hair loss. But these are prescription medications and the right amount suitable for you can only be determined by your dermatologist.
Hair transplant is also a treatment that people who already in the severe stage of hair loss are or have considered. This treatment is quite expensive but people who had already gone through the process claim the results are good. It is a process that is still in the developmental stage but can already be done with satisfactory results.
For hormonal causes of hair loss especially among women who are pregnant or just had a baby, good diet can help reduce massive hair shedding. Also time to recover from the delivery is needed. If the reason is because of menopause, then addressing the medication needed and diet for women undergoing menopause should be the priority to see if there will be drastic changes in the hair loss issue.
